Budget Helps Temporary Worker Costs

Clients will be able to claim back Temporary Worker costs under changes introduced in the latest budget. The chancellor Gordon Brown has extended his research and development tax credit to cover costs of temporary workers for small and medium-sized firms.

Boosting job creation by making life easier for small businesses was a central theme of the budget. Brown pledged that the treasury would contribute £170m to training and wage costs so that employees could take time off their existing low-paid jobs to get better training. The minimum amount of investment needed to claim research and development tax credit was lowered to £10,000.
